Also, tried out a non-photo blue technical pencil for the first time with this strip. It’s a lot nicer to use than the regular HBs I was using before. Thanks to David Lillie of Dreamkeepers for suggesting it!

I’ve seen sketches in blue before, but what makes the non-photo blue pencils nicer to use?
I think originally they were used because they didn’t show up on photocopiers. These days, they’re just a light cyan pencil crayon – but because they have a hue instead of being grey, there’s a trick you can use in Photoshop that makes them trivial to remove.
Also, I got the mechanical pencil lead kind, so it glides easily and is permanently sharp. No need to erase after inking, either. Much nicer than a regular graphite pencil.
